Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid ordinary passport, be in good health, have attained a degree (Bachelor’s degree for Master applicants, Master’s degree for Doctoral applicants) and meet the language requirements.


Language Requirements:

Level 6 (score180 or above)

If you have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree taught in Chinese in China, you may apply for exemption for HSK requirements.

How to Apply

Step 1: Online Application

Please visit http://admission.iso.fudan.edu.cn to register and fill in the application form, upload required digital application documents listed below and complete online application.Pay application fee (800 RMB). (Online payment only. Application fee is not refundable.)

  1. A photocopy of the passport

Photocopy of valid passport identification page. Passport must be an ordinary one and be valid until Sep. 30, 2019. Applicants currently residing in China also need to provide a copy of the page containing a valid visa or residence permit.

  1. Personal statement

It requires above 1000 words for master applicants and above 1500 words for PhD applicants. The language should align with the one to be taught with.

The content should include (but not limited to) study and work experience, academic achievement, expected research proposal, and career plan after graduation, etc.

  1. Two recommendation letters

The referee must be professor, associate professor or person with equivalent academic title. The recommendation letter should be in Chinese or English and include the referee’s signature and contact information. You may as well mail the recommendation letter to the relevant school or department rather than upload it online, if the letter is sealed.

  1. Transcripts of the highest degree conferred (Master or Bachelor)

  2. Diploma of the highest degree conferred (Master or Bachelor) or proof of impending graduation (for applicants in their final year of study).

  3. Language certificate and score report (Chinese or English).

  4. Completely filled Foreigner Physical Examination Form. (for applicants who apply for the scholarships only, valid for 6 months)

The form can be downloaded from http://iso.fudan.edu.cn/ziliao.htm, and should be filled out in Chinese or English.








8.Catalogue and abstract of published papers, or other documents that proves academic ability (not compulsory).

The above-listed application documents in Item 4, 5, 6 must be original or notarized copy, and should be attached with notarized Chinese or English translation if the original one is not in Chinese or English.


* Please pay close attention to your online application status. When the online application is confirmed by the university (about 1-2 weeks after submitting the application and the application review by school or department you apply to  might be delayed during the winter vacation), print the application form automatically generated by the system, affix a passport photo in the designated area, and put on signature by yourself.


Step 2: Submit the required paper application documents

When the online application is confirmed, applicants must send the required paper documents below to school or department by express mail  or submit the documents in person in two weeks. Otherwise, it will be considered as a waiver of the application. The mailing addresses are listed on the following website: http://iso.fudan.edu.cn/xuewei.htm.The arrival time of the application documents will be subject to the receipt time of the mail. (Please mark “Application Materials for Postgraduate Admission 2019” on the envelope)

  1. Two originals of the application form with the applicant’s signature and photo on both.

  2. Two copies of identification page of valid passport. The passport should be an ordinary passport and be valid until Sep. 30, 2019.

  3. Sealed recommendation letters (only for applicants who have not uploaded the digital recommendation letters online).

Supplementary application documents may be required when necessary. Applicants may also visit the website of according school or department and contact with them to confirm the required documents.

All application documents will not be returned.



Admission

 1.  There are three ways to admit students after reviewing all the application documents: no exam, interview, or written exam combined with interview. Please contact school or department for the details.

2. Applicants may check admission results via the online application system (http://admission.iso.fudan.edu.cn/).


Registration Time

At the end of August or early September in 2019 (Specified in the Admission Notice)

 Students who are admitted have to register on time and provide the original Diploma and Degree Certificate at the same time. Students without original Diploma and Degree Certificate are not allowed to register, therefore the admission will be cancelled as well.

Scholarship


  1. Chinese Government Scholarship

  1. Chinese Government Scholarship(Bilateral Program)

Bilateral Program includes a full or partial scholarship provided by Ministry of Education of China in accordance with educational exchange agreements or consensus between Chinese government and governments of other countries, institutions, universities or international organizations. Please contact and apply to local Chinese Embassy and Consulate or other dispatching authorities for overseas study between early January and early April for more details on application.The admission package will be sent to applicants by local Chinese Embassy and Consulate or other dispatching authorities.


  1. Chinese Government Scholarship(Chinese University Program)

Chinese University Program is a full scholarship for designated Chinese universities and certain provincial education offices in specific provinces or autonomous regions to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China.


Eligibility

  1. Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.

  2. Applicants should not be graduates from Chinese university in 2019.

  3. Applicants for master’s programs should be under the age of 35; applicants for doctoral programs should be under the age of 40.

  4. Following applicants would not be accepted:

    1. Applying for a joint degree program,

    2. Applying for language and literature programs of one’s native language or a third language, such as English and French, etc.

  1. Applicants should not be holding any other scholarship provided by Chinese government.


Coverage

Exemption from tuition fee, providing free on-campus accommodation, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and living stipend (Master student: 3000RMB/month, Doctoral student: 3500RMB/month).

  2. Visit the website (http://admission.iso.fudan.edu.cn) to complete the application for study program. Please choose “Self-support” as the “fund source”. When filling in the application form, choose the option of “Chinese Government Scholarship”.

  1. Shanghai Government Scholarship

It is provided by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission for distinctive prospective international students to study at higher educational institutions in Shanghai.


Eligibility

  1. Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.

  2. Applicants for master programs should be under the age of 35; applicants for doctoral programs should be under the age of 40;

  3. Applicants should not be holding any other scholarship provided by Chinese government.


Coverage

CategoryA: Exemption from tuition fee, providing free on-campus accommodation, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and living stipend (Master student: 3000RMB/month, Doctoral student: 3500RMB/month).

  1. Confucius Institute Scholarship

It is funded by Confucius Institute Headquarters or Hanban for international students to pursue Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) in Chinese Universities.

Applicants should apply to Confucius Institutes, independently set-up Confucius Classrooms, overseas Chinese Test Centers, Educational and Cultural Offices (Sections) of Chinese Embassies (Consulates).

It is funded by Confucius Institute Headquarters or Hanban for international students to pursue Doctor’s degree in Humanities and Social Science.

Notes

  1. New scholarship students are required to register at Fudan University on the date specified on admission notice. Students who arrive late without approval in advance will have their Scholarship automatically cancelled. Students who have kept the admission but postponed their registration to the following academic year will have their scholarship cancelled.

  2. Scholarship students must attend annual evaluation. Students who fail to meet the requirements will have their scholarship suspended or cancelled.

  3. Scholarship students are not allowed to change the major or study period.

  4. All application documents will not be returned.
